Using rubber or contact cement for wood scale finish
So I just used some rubber cement and contact cement, seperately of course, on different types of scrap wood I had a free cutting scales. I haven't been able to find any threads about it's use so I'll just describe what my experiences were with both. It gives a great finish, and is much easier to work than CA or epoxy when using the built in brush.
For sanding it the contact cement is basically the same as CA. Rubber cement has to be wet sanded or it will begin to get little balls and bits from it melting. It makes a nice looking finish though, the wood really pops with both. It's pretty durable to with a couple medium coats, with about 10mins between them. Total drying time would be about an hour but it's best to wait longer to be sure.
Anyone else tried this? What were your results? I'm going to try and post pics of the same woods in CA and contact cement finish so you can see the difference.
