I was wondering what other peoples least favorite part of the restoration project was. Mine has to be wedge making. Feels so tedious to me.
For me the most tedious part of a restoration is the initial sanding. After this it is all fun.
Busting the blade after you've finnished pinning everything back together.:banghead:
But seriuusly, I dont know. I actually enjoy the whole process.
I hate switching from greaseless to buffing comounds on the buffer. That and getting out deep pits initially.... both are just time consuming for me.
If I could downsize hand sanding my G10 from several hours to a fraction I'll be a happy man :D but besides that I enjoy every part from scratch to finish.

Not having power tools like a buffer, it has to be restoring a badly corroded & pitted blade using nothing but carbide paper, oil and my hands.
Character building certainly; I have known the most hardened men burst into tears when threatened with this :)
Mind you after a few blades, I had hands and forearms like Popeye !!

The worst part for me is hand-sanding the pits. Once I'm past 320, its fun.
Sort of like when you were a kid "Ooooooh, shiny......"
I'm in the camp where it's just cool to see something go from a mess to a nice usable razor. I wish I had more time to play..........:)

I didn't participate in the poll because my least favorite part isn't listed.
So far, for me, the least favorite part of a restore is waiting for the stock to arrive. lol
I just got my first project razor while swimming in the bay. It's a Boker Red-Injun 101. I won the auction by $.17 (sorry if anyone here bid on it)

For me, my least favorite part is honing... by a long shot. I thought about outsourcing it but then I'd NEVER get to shave with any of my creations, and that'd be no fun!
I can't believe people don't like pinning.. nothing more satisfying than finally putting the stuff together after having worked on the scales and blade for however many hours...
I don't like finishing, but I'm still tweaking it.
