Isn't Braso ammonia based (I cant remember) anyway I tried a while ago and did not see any polishing action from it.
You can use Mothers Aluminum& Mag found in Walmart the Automotive section.
+1 to what mainaman said...I use Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish and it gives great results.
I think that Maas is incredible. I ordered mine right from ebay. Careful though, read the posts....I almost ordered the 1 lb tub, as opposed to the 4 oz tube!
I've only tried MAAS, and I don't need to try anything else. I would definitely recommend it.
I ordered it this evening and will wait for it to come. I was frustrated because I'm off this week and want to work on my razors now. Maybe it will arrive mid-week.
Brasso has a chemical mix that works well on brass while
MAAS is more abrasive but also has a chemical component.
Brasso is best for brass.
MAAS is good for steel. Simichome might be better but both work well.
Use what works for you.. Some auto polishes for chrome
and the like work well too and can be less expensive as
well as more available.

I have both, but have never compared the two.
Brasso is also good for polishing the scratches out of f'd up DVD's and CD's. Only use as a last resort.
I'm wondering how Maas would do at polishing DVD's?
