Cleaning the Grip on the Tang

Hello,

I have started having a go at my first straight razor restoration, I think I am hooked already. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for cleaning the uneven grip surface of the tang? I have attached a photo to help you understand what I am talking about.

Those ridges are referred to as "jimps". A wire brush will work well to clean them out.

you got the A+ answer already but I would just add that great small wire brushes can be had at Harbor Freight for reasonable prices. I have also had blades that needed a needle file to clean up the jimps. They have those at HF as well. Good luck and have fun. Remember that blade your working on is sharp, NEVER forget it.
