Some of us file the pin down to the nub and use an automatic center punch to push the pin out the back side of the scales (or out the front side). I also have a flushcutter to remove the washer and pin and then push the remaining pin through and out the other side.

There are many threads on this forum explaining the process. Try a search and see what comes up for you.

Hopefully more members will respond to help you.

+1 on the flush-cutter. You can frequently find a basic flush-cutter in the beading and crafts section at Wal*Mart for about $5. Cuts right through brass or nickel-silver pins with no trouble. Makes the pin removal process on most razors about 20 seconds. No filing. No cracked scales.

Cool A couple of Hints / Tricks

You will find many more of these in the "Workshop Sticky"

    http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...wers-here.html

If you use the file method, put a piece of tape over the pins before starting that will help you not file the scales...

Using the Flush cutter method, you need to cut the pin itself, not just pop the lock washer off, or you will crack the scale...

When tapping the pins out use a 1/16 punch

If you have a stubborn pin DO NOT hit it harder, stop and approach it from the other side to allow tapping from both directions....
