Unity
I offered to get a razor and restore it for my barber (for his own use - not for customers) so I found this old Unity 7/8 hollowground from Sheffield, polished it up a bit and put some olivewood scales on it. I must say that I found the olivewood very nice to work with - not too hard but with a nice smooth finish.
I'm not quite happy with the CA finish on the wood but it looks better in real life than it does in the photographs.

I like it a lot...I like the variation of color in the wood.

The scales look great. I'm sure your
barber friend will be pleased.

RE: Unity
Cheers, guys.
I figure it's worth it to encourage another shaver to the straight fold. Now I just have to break it to him what he'll have to spend on strops, creams and the like. We may see the price of haircuts going up round here.

They have wal-marts in your part of the ocean don't they? Get him a 2 dollar mug, get some roo hide or leather from a shoe/garmet repair place and make him a strop :p. check your druggists and see if they sell cup soaps cheap. Get him started cheap then let him become addicted on his own ;).
Beautiful wood on the scales. Now you can tell me how you did the CA finish so I can do it on these deer antler scales when it's time.

Looks pretty good from here... Keep at it... you'll get better and better as you go
