I have recently got a Wester Brothers Steel King. The razor originally had blueing on the tang.
However because the razor has a pivot pin bolster I will not be removing the razor from the scales for this refurbishment. (NB the main reason I got this razor was for the bolstered scales, so I'm taking no risks with them)
Is it possible to re-blue the tang without removing it from the scales or should I just clean it back to polished steel?
I'm assuming you mean cold chemical bluing. You can definitely touch up the areas that you can card. I'm not sure about the parts underneath the scales. It would depend on if the solution will damage the steel if its not carded. I'd guess it probably wouldn't, but I personally wouldn't want to apply the solution without carding it. I might try it if there was enough of a gap between the scales and the tang that I could get some steel wool in there to card the areas right at the edge of the scales, so the bluing went under the scales a little bit (so there was no unblued areas of the tang visible), and I'd leave the places I couldn't get to unblued.

Another tip is WD-40, it will stop the bluing action...
Personally I have never tried what you are talking about, but it might work...
