I'll restate the stated: sorry about the blade.
Also will say thank you. Posting the loss is hard to do. Also very valuable to all. Stuff happens, no use losing an eye for our passion. Great reenforcement that saftey gear is important.
It would be horrible to hear of anyone, that the last thing they saw was their reflection in a blade, just before taking an eye out.
Ps
I 'thank' you for your post, but I won't 'like' it, lolLast edited by dirtychrome; 07-12-2011 at 02:14 AM.

So here is the final damage. Like i had mentioned it was done, as you may be abe to see the mirroresque reflection on what was left of the blade. The scales remained unscathed so at least i have an extra set now...but RIP Torrey 5/8.

Thanked: 94Look at this way:
1) Grind back the blade behind the toe so it is nice and flat;
2) File the toe of the blade into a hook;
And you will have a unique one of a kind Torrey can opener which you will be able to sell on ebay for many hundreds of money.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Glad to hear you were wearing a face shield and did not get hurt.
As Glen stated above, It will happen and has happened to me.
I should get a face shield. Since a blade went flying out of my hand, I do wear safety glasses.
