Yet another Sterelizing question???

Okay first off Hi im new to the forum and im just receiving my first straight in the mail on Monday. I bought a "vintage" H.C. Wentworth & Sons razor that says La Leta on the blade which leads me to another question to ask if anyone could tell me any info on the brand or blade???

So for the Serializing question, i have access to use a hospitals "steam sterilizing machine" or whatever you call it and was wondering if it would hurt the razor to that? It has a horn handle (the ebay seller said it was real idk for sure haven't got it yet). Im a bit of a germ-a-phobe. Ive searched the forums so if anyone has tried this and it went horribly wrong ill just use some techniques i saw on other posts.

If you use the autoclave it will destroy the horn. Honing will remove pretty much all nasty stuff from the edge itself. After that you can give it a wipe with alcohol and let it evaporate. Or you can invest in barbicide to soak the blade (not the scales) in. I believe someone around here has mentioned barbicide wipes as well. Again, it'll eat the horn.

Please don't. It will ruin the scales. It isn't good for your blade.
Just don't. If you feel the need to sterilize a material that has little to no opportunistic sites for microbiota to grow try alcohol.
I cannot help you with the history of your razor, but welcome to the forum, make sure you get your razor honed by a professional razor honer and don't forget your strop.

Get some barbicide from a beauty supply place and follow the directions on the label.

All I ever do is either dip and or wipe with isoprophyl alcohol (90%). Germaphobe or not, there isn't much that can live thru alcohol, the air we breath (O2), living on carbon steel, and then shave soap.

About all Goins has on it is 1909-1913.

Alcohol and honing should be more than enough to serilize the blade. I also use the Clorox bleach free anti-microbial wipes.
