That is great work....I've always been partial to the W&Bs and the bird's eye is a clean looking material for the scales. Excellent.

Nice work! Where did you get nickle-silver washers? And how many coats of the finish did you use?
I've got some curly maple and curly mahogany that will be scales sometime soon, but haven't decided about finishes yet.
The washers I realy don't remember as I buy them wherever I find a good deal. The finish was a wipe on minwax cut about 60-40 with mineral spirits. If you do it full strength it soesn't apply well in my high humidity S texas region. I think it was about 8-10 total with 2 trips with ultra fine steel wool in between a few coats. Finished with a polishing compound and 3 coats of Ren wax on everything... After taking small pieces of the wood and trying out a few different ways like tung etc, I settled on that as it looked like what I wanted for it.
