strange stain (does not look like a water stain)

Hey guys, first time posting... well I was shaving with my straight razor for the third time, all going great.... when I noticed a strange stain when I finished shaving... it does not look like a water spot or rust or anything... it developed some time during that shave. Attachment 86854. here is a photo of it... I THINK (not sure, obviously since I'm asking you guys) that it is from the hair that was shaved off... from inside the freshly cut hair, the keratin... and when I wiped my blade to take off the excess shaving cream/foam so I could continue shaving, I mustve pressed too hard or something, causing it to smear the hair and keratin on the blade, hence why it is going parrallel with the blade with respect too the shaving edge... I can not seem to get it off. I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing I am, and if there was any success to getting it off their blade... another stain is also on the other side, although much smaller and less notable.. itsa brand new dovo 5/8 razor, so I doubt its a rust stain, I've maintained it very well so far and id hate to have stained it already without knowing what I did.... thanks..

looks to me like you had a bit of mosture in your scales .the placement is common. try useing toothpaste to remove it just a bit on toilet paper and rub up and down . do be careful.if this dosnt work try a pencil erazer lightly. most razors will stain or rust within a hour if there is any water left on them. i run my razor thru the hotest water my tap can provide, give it a flick and wipe, then set it aside while i do my aftershave , balm exc. then wipe again and run a piece of toiletpaper thu the scales. strop lightly and oil

Thanks for the advice... that's the thing I do not understand... I am thorough with my drying after I shave... I'm positive that there was no moisture on the scales... even then the scales do not touch that part of the blade... its much higher... also it was not there before I started shaving, it appeared only after... however I will give the toothpaste a shot... don't mean to shoot down your theory but it just doesn't fit, although I might be completely wrong and you're right (I am asking for help, so it be idiotic of me to shoot down theories) thanks!

Even brand new razors rusts really fast and stains easily, what you're experiencing is perfectly normal and comes up here often, this isn't exactly a unique situation. :)

Buy some good metal polish, I hear Maas is popular, myself I use Autosol.
I also use renaissance wax once in a while, if leaves a thin invisible film on the blade and keeps staining away.

Alrighty... I guess I am was wrong (big surprise :p )... well I'm glad to see it isn't a strange case haha. Where can I find said polish?... that's just gonna have to wait then bc I'm out of money since I did just spent a pretty penny purchasing all the necessary equipment to start straight razor shaving (I'm new to this and I'm loving it so far)... I guess I forgot one ingredient, the polish :p .... thanks for the quick replies!....sorry for starting a thread on something quite common, I did do research on it and read about water stains and how to remove them but I just thought it mightve been something else because how peculiar it looked and formed.... just tried the toothpaste, did not succeed... then tried the eraser... not so well either... just going to have to buy the polish later... thanks again for the replies.

You want to eliminate the problem? Rinse the razor in hot water wipe,set on a towel while you are rinsing your brush and bowl out, then apply oil. I use an applicator with a mixture of Camellia Oil and Billistol. It is easy to use and adds almost no time to the shave. I also as a parting step turn the razor backwards and blow out the pivot point.
