Wade and Butcher Restore
I got this 6/8" Wade and Butcher and it had some rust spots and the metal scales were pretty scratched up and rusty as well. So I took off the scales and started hand sanding the blade, spending the last several hours sanding by hand. There is still some minor pitting and discoloration, but I don't want to sand too much. Still need to get some scales and hone. What do you all think? Should I continue sanding? I will probably have to have scales made, or order order them pre-made as I do not have or have access to the tools required to make them myself. What type of scales would you recommend? I was thinking about possibly using the Hart scales available from Classic Shaving, maybe the maple.

That's come a long way. It looks fantastic.
There are lots of options for scales. I like W&B's mixed with horn, but there's more options than just that.

Ooooh ... you're gonna like that one! :)
I have a few with micro pitting left after hand sanding and polishing.
It's difficult to continue deeper as you will loose some of the original contours.
I just at the point you are at keep them oiled.
Just my 2 cents.

I sympathise with the position you are in. A nice W & B blade in need of scales and no tools and even less experience. I have been sitting on a very nice 8/8 Wade and Butcher blade in need of scales for over 5 years now. Really should get off my duff and do something with that blade.
Hope you put together something really nice. You have some of the the hardest work already done.
