Problem with cocobolo is the high oil content. That is a problem throughout the rosewood family. The high oil content will effect the finish. Simple volitel finishes like polyurethane or varnish will not want to dry properly. You will end up with a gooey mess that will never dry. The only finishes I have found that work properly on cocobolo are chemically hardened. Epoxy and a catalysed urethane. Other than that, just sand them to a high grit and hit them with a buffing wheel to put a nice semi gloss shine on them.
