When I make stuff I feel like I can take more pride in my work if even the small details are hand made by me, that and the fact that I would probably have to import them(waiting for delivery) were my main reasons for taking this route(I also had fun making them).
I've also just finished my first set of scales that I made from one of the boards from the wood blinds in my bedroom, I cut them into shape and handsanded them yesterday, I used a toothpick and som extra strong water resistant wood glue to pin the wedge then I treated them with one layer of brown wood stain and three layers of polyurethane varnish(the last layer is drying as I write)
