repairing pressed horn
Just picked up a nice razor with pressed horn scales there is a hair line crack in each scale at the pivot hole should i just apply a little CA glue to the cracks and allow it to wick up the cracks to repair?or just give them a soak in neatsfoot oil? I was worried if i soaked in neatsfoot oil first the crack couldn't be repaired.I am sorry if this has been brought up before but i didn't have much luck with the search funtion i kept getting error messages for some reason. I realy want to save these scales because they have some realy neat color to them.

Any repairs have to be done before the oil !!!!
I have never really had any luck with CA repairs they just dont really have shear strength.. I use Epoxy for repair if I am going to actually try it..

I've fixed delamination with CA, but never a crack through the pin.

Thanks for the replies i kinda figured that was the case with using adheisive before the oil but wasn't sure how much of a rejuvinating effect the neats foot oil might have on the scales. I'm going to try some realy hot ca and maybe line the scales to bolster them some.
