Standard 1850 RPM will serve you well, harbor freight are purveyers of junk.
Look for a used baldor.Wellcome to SRP:)
Yep the Harbor Freight 6" buffers are total junk I own 6 of them, combined I spent $180 and have no need to ever change wheels for re-loading compounds which I use the 4" size that gets into the hollows too...
These junkie buffers have only restored about 1000 razors so far I expect to have problems anyday now, I have just been waiting for them to fly apart maybe within the next 1000 razors or so :p
Welcome to SRP the land of YMMV :rofl2:

Tons of info in that thread and if you search "Buffers" you will find much much more
Makes sense to me,to do 1000 razors you would need 6 H.F buffers :)
You can also get the hf junk with a $10 warranty so they will replace the pice of junk if it falls apart any time with in the first three years.
I figured if one died I could replace it with a brand new one for less than shipping on an expensive one anyway,, Keep in mind we are talikng razors here, it is really pretty light duty buffing... If you apply pressure you burn up the razor way before the grinder :(
I've had a HF buffer for 2-1/2 years and have absolutely no complaints.
Just to be fair the other Grinders are better, but don't let cost ever stop you from restoring razors
True, for light duty stuff, perhaps they will serve you well, but I do some serious buffing in restoring ships clocks,I need good old american made steel.
