Advice on pins and washers

I was told that I should get nickle/silver pins and washers for repinning razors. I found two different sets on eBay, one is nickle/silver and one is brass. The nickle/silver one has SS washers for the outside and nickle/silver for the inside washers. Is this acceptable or should everything be nickle/silver? The brass set is all brass. How does brass rate?

I also saw a video where they used a sleeve over the pin that went through the razor but have yet to see a set that includes this sleeve and so far none of the razors that I've disassembled even had this sleeve. I can understand why a sleeve would be desired but have yet to see one in use. How common are they?

Is there a specific set that anyone can recommend? I really have zero knowledge of pinning supplies and would appreciate any advice.

There is a ton of information on pinning equipment in the "library" section; this includes suppliers. The "Advance" search feature, above right, will be your best way to travel the information path, after the "Library" section. Use key words like, pinning, silver nickel, brass rods, equipment suppliers, etc....

I don't buy pinning "kits", I get my supplies from different sources. Some are right down the street in hobby stores.

Brass rod, tubing and washers are available at a good Hardware store - Ace, etc. Stainless washers with nickle silver rod is what most folks use. The ebay sources are convenient. 1/16 inch bolts and nuts are handy for mock up before pinning. Check the Wiki for more info.

As Above, do not buy off of ebay,again as above, hobby shops,model train store shops,this site,ebay is a total ripoff for pinning supplys
