I made these scales a few months ago but never pinned them (since I never pinned any).
Finally figured what the hell, how bad could they turn out! I don't have a rasp so I'll need to figure out the best way to polish them up.
Bocote with a curly maple wedge.
Brass rod and #0 brass washers
Blade is unknown and without markings.

Nice work! As far as cleaning them up all I ever do with mine is a mild polish with Mothers Aluminum on a rag..brightens em right up:)
Nice! I am making a set of scales out of zebrawood. Is yours made out of Bocote?
A rasp???? for polishing pins?
Punch an 1/8th in. hole in some tape,place it over the pin,polish with some 800 grit paper.

I use this setup to buff my pins out after peening. I cut the side out of a soda can and made holes that just fit over the washers. It protects my scales, if I slide off with the buffer. I really like this buffing pad, I get it at Sally's Beauty Supply. It will actually round out the peen hits and polish out scratches with the white side.
