Lined wedge question

Ok guys I checked out Glen's tutorial, and there was one thing I was questioning...call it newbie ignorace. When I am shaping the wedge, I sand the taper with the lined material (nickel silver in my case) with the center material after it's been glued or epoxied on right? Just want to make sure I'm doing it right. This is going on a Fred Dolle 5/8 full hollow. The scales will be bubinga (my bass guitar is made of the same wood and love it) with a blue g10/nickel silver lined wedge and nickel silver pins w/ stainless washers, finished with tongue oil and CA. Any help will be great!

I was of the understanding that you would need to sand the taper on your G10 first, then 'glue' your liners on then. Once the liners and the G10 have been laminated together then do the final shaping to match the shape of the scales. I have never done a lined wedge myself, but this is how I think it would have to work.

As for your scale finish, I'm not sure how the tung oil and CA would go together. I would think it would have to be one or the other. The oil would stop the CA from adhering to the timber I would think.

See that's what I was thinking about the spacer material (the metal). I just wasn't sure 100%. I pretty much had the same reasoning you did. For the finish, I tried it on a piece of spare pine I had, and it actually worked believe it or not; just gotta let the tongue oil cure for about 24-36 hours depending on humidity. I also took a piece and used mod podge on top of the tongue oil, then CA...worked too, go figure.

Yeppers... The taper goes into the center, and add extra :p the liner makes the wedginess less hmmmm is that a word hehehe

Technically the wedge isn't wedgier, its just thicker. For a wedgier wedge with extra wedginess, you'd have to increase the angle of the wedge. Right? :D
