I picked this up not long ago ,good price but someone had already had a go at it

shocking plain wood scales and really butchered the shank. The blade was pitted which didn`t show up on the pics
Anyway ,re-grind new scales and a spit and polish and this is her . The scales are actually red deer antler with the outside ground off and then sanded ,then I let the polishing wax over heat so it would get into the surface ,hence the colour ,bit of an experiment but I kind of like it

You can tell there is quite a polish on it from the reflections.

What polish did you use, and what would the material have looked like if you did not allow it to soak/melt into the horn?

Plain white with a few imperfections ,the polish is green wax based polish used in conjunction with a buffing wheel,its very hard to keep the colour out so its better if you want a clean surface is to use a non wax base polish ,ofcourse it has to be hand sanded to a fine grit first
