I dropped my dubl duck in the sink, (wasn't going to try and catch it) and chipped the tip. Can this be fixed, perhaps sanded and be made round? I really love this razor and would hate to think its useless now. I used a penny for scale.

Yep, I've seen breakage like this repaired. I say repaired but as you mentioned, it can likely be brought back a bit shorter and either rounded or kept square toe.
This isn't a task for a new restorer (unless ambitious). I'd send it out to a good restorer here on SRP and have them give it a go.
Sorry for the bad luck but its surely salvageable.
Any recommendations as far as who would be up for the task? And you have know idea how relieved i am to hear there is hope. Thank you.
Agree with the above. Been there done that. My razor was less expensive, but what worked well and quickly on mine was using the side of a lower grit hone. This way I didn't scratch up the main surfaces. Carefully /slowly I ran the chipped tip over the side and it rounded it wonderfully. One day square next round.
Go to the SRP classifieds and you'll find members who do restorations in 'member services'. It would be best to send it out to someone with the experience and the proper equipment.Quote:

Bravo for not trying to catch it. Body parts are much more valuable than even great razors.
FWIW, a good razor smith can do magic w/ that. I've seen examples that just made me cheer. Your baby will live - and prob remain a fav shaver.
I would put a around 240 grit wet and dry sand paper flat on a table and sand it down with water or oil until desired shape. Then you could sand up in grits and maybe finish with some hand polishing.
