Hey guys!
Ive been very fortunate to receive some awesome advice on here so far. I have recently acquired a Le Grelot, and I would love to know if you all would recommend restoration!

That depends on how much you like it. I would probably just hit it with metal polish, such as maas, semichrome, or the like and hone it up. Minimalist approach.
I wonder if this has been reground before, there seems to be traces of stabilizer on the heel.
Id say I like it enough to give it a shot! It looks great to me. Ive heard nothing but great things about these and wanted to try it out. It looks like a good polish will clean it up pretty nice without going crazy on it. Thanks jimmy!
I couldnt tell you if it has or not. Im going to take it into a local place to get looked at. I just wanted to share and get some opinions although its tough through pictures to really tell. Thanks mainaman!
looks like it may have been re-ground, but i read they give a great shave, go for it.
Thanks guys! once I make forward progress ill post updates. it should be shaving good soon:)
Do IT, even if you don't like it that much, then you won't be disappointed if you screw something up. Doing is learning =] I have a heap of razors that I don't love the look of or anything but are in sound enough condition to fix up, which I got for the purpose of learning how to restore (OK I lied I got them because I suffer terribly from RAD and I can't stop feeding my habit but anyways..._)
Good eye Stefan! that razor has definately seen some heavy grinding, a pic of the same model and size.

I mean that the person that ground it - with that much anger - may have heated the blade too much so that it lost it's property (hardness, elasticity) which would make it impossible to get it shave ready again.Quote:
Im curious to know what you mean by unquenched?
If you are looking to have a razor restored, check the member services section of the classifieds.
Sorry no, for all the reason posted in your other thread.
