I have used a hacksaw blade inserted between the scales on a Red Imp and shortened the wedge. It sounds like this one is hitting the pin though so I vote to remove the hinge pin and save the scales for a shorter blade.

Sounds like a little more work than I'd like to do. I'm going to return it to the seller since its a recent purchase. Thanks for all the great tips.
