I have some nice exotic hard woods in my shop that might make for interesting scales.. Zercoate, Bubinga, Purple Heart, Blood Wood and Yellow Heart among others...
They have been stored and air dry for a few years..
I thought I might seal them inside & outside with CA before assembly. Should that be sufficient to keep them stable in a shaving environment?
Yes CA is a really good finish for many woods

When using CA (or any other finish, really) make sure you do both front and back in the same sitting. If you do one side and come back to the other a while later, you may find that you have inadvertently warped your wood.
