Morning y’all! I have a question for you honemeisters out there. I received some polishing powder as an extra goodie when I ordered my Nakayama Kiita Koppa. I did a search through the forums and could find anything, so hopefully I didn’t just miss it and post something that’s been answered.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that I’m using this finishing powder in place of my tomonaguras to finish and polish the edge. With that being said, for those that have used stuff like this, what been your method for applying it? I know I can use a small scoop and gradually add it to water on the stone, but is this something I could put in a dropper with water and just keep the solution for later use! Appreciate any feedback!

Reading the label it looks like it is a mixture of powdered Aiwatani and Shobudani hones. Sort of prefab slurry. Hopefully the dust particles aren't too coarse as to damage the cutting edge. Please let us know how you get on with this powder.

    About This Item

Mined from Natural Japanese Whetstone, this powder is used for polishing Japanese traditional kitchen knives ( Wa Bocho ) and woodworking tools and is capable of achieving a 'Kasumi Finish'

These natural Whetstone powders are the one produced when cutting the stones at the workplace of our supplier. Then they had it crushed even finer. We prepared 100g pack in each.

I’ll def keep y’all posted. I seen the stuff on the site and was just curious if anyone here had used it, and if so how. I have a smaller squirt / dropper bottle. I’m gonna try it that way and just adding powder in the stone with water. It appears and feels extremely fine, I didn’t feel any sharp pieces. I know that doesn’t mean there may not be any, but it felt like baby powder.

If it's for kasumi it'll be hit n miss whether it works for your intended purpose. Suck it and see as we say down here.
