    For that kinda cash, I'd rather stick with the Norton. What's really giving me a case of HAD is the DMT lineup.

    Well, if I could actually find one for sale with reasonable shipping to Canada.....<sigh>

    I'm sort of wondering.... this stone is made in Japan, it does not need soaking and I doubt seriously that Henkels would have their own manufacturing facility for making these hones as they are hardly *common* around the world. Me suspects, and I am unanimous in this... the Henkels hones might just be made by Shapton... Unlike typical Japanese man made water stones which DO require soaking, Shaptons are used the same way as the description of the Henkels. Add to this that Shapton manufactures a series of Chefs stones under their own name and so I thinks the plot is thickening.

    I dunno... I'm getting some pretty fine results from my recently arrived Blue and Yellow Coticule so the urge isn't that great right now. I might spring for a set of Shaptons as they are of known quality but I do need to feel there is something to be gained before forking out that kind of cash.

    Still, interesting hones none the less.

    While using the Henckels stone a slurry is formed. That does not happen on my Shaptons. Nor have I ever seen a dual grit Shapton.

    You are indeed correct on the slurry part. As for the double sided stone, Shapton sells a complete range of stones laminated onto plastic bases so there is no reason why they couldn't whip up a 2 sided stone for Henkels. Considering the slurry bit though, it's probably made by another manufacturer.
