I got this in a lot of hones/stones I bought:





There were two, exactly the same, in the lot. So, like I said, they came with a bunch of hones which were pretty clearly at least partially razor-related (two ceramic hones, a natural belgian combo, a few others which I haven't been able to identify).

What's odd, at least to me, is that they seem, by feel and by smell, to be (somewhat soft) rubber. It certainly has the appearance, perhaps misleadingly so, of being intended for razors -- the size, shape, chamfering. Has anyone heard of a rubber hone? Maybe for stropping or something?

I'm not looking to use them -- my Tony Miller strop works wonderfully -- I'm just curious.
