Yes do tell where u found it i trashed my 1200 on my other hones so be careful what you use it on

i bought from ebay.but this side has and people complains about it.works for me .i am tired of dmt cleaning.

The japan Woodworker has a similar stone but as I recall its blue or dark grey designed for flattening water stones. I don't recall the price.

wow when i saw this thread made me confuse.
Answer to you question is this. it is very course stone. eats up very fast. i use only if stone needs a lot lapping . example ebay buys. it is very heavy stone too.

Just an added note ..... at the time Sham made the original post he was using the DMT 1200 to lap following the coarse Ice Bear stone. He later found that his 1200 was ruined because it is not coarse enough to lap waterstones.

Just posting this to make sure anyone who wasn't around then doesn't read the OP and think that they can lap with their 1200 without damaging it. DMT recommends the D8C 325 or the X or better yet the XX.

Even the 325 will wear down after a couple years Mine is getting pretty fine On my daily use razor hones I haven't needed to flatten them in months. So I don't worry about wearing out my DMT on them.

It's only when you get a new hone and need to do mainainance on it that the worry kicks in. I have been using the same two DMT, 120 and 325, for more than two years on 99% water stones with very good results, sandpaper is for other projects, however I'm getting a few oil stones lately that I'm useing the sandpaper on... ugh what a pain...

I used one of the "Cement Block" flattening stone when I first started, it was soon clear that these stones do not stay flat long. So keep that in mind.
