Has anyone had dealings with this online retailer? Their prices and selection look attractive but there is not much feedback available. They sell a razor under the brand name Grim Blades that looks interesting. Thanks for any feedback.

Welcome to SRP, Some fine members of this forum will shortly review this razor. Being that your new to straight (and there im only assuming)
my best suggestion to you would be to wait before you make that kind of investment.
Attractive prices? If you compare the exact same Dovo razors they sell at any other retailer you will notice that their 'discounted' price is at least twice the norm.
Here are two references for their made-up-brand razors:

Yes, the website name may be different but the entity behind all of these websites is the same.
Thanks gugi. This did smell like a dog. I have just placed my order with Lynn. Cheers!.
Glad to hear tht you spent your money with Lynn. He'll treat you right.
Well if the cheeky monkeys at straightrazor dot com are trying to sell razors like this :Attachment 135641
For silly money like this:
Vintage Straight Razor Magnetic Cutlery Co. - King Otto
$278.00
(You save $121.00)
They won't be getting any money off me for grinding down a razor with a chipped heel. They haven't even bothered to get rid of the shoulder.
Here's another belter from the folks at straight razors dot com:
Attachment 135642
Vintage Straight Razor Wade & Butcher
$349.00
(You save $240.00)
What a steal!! Chipped toe???
Any of our members cosidering the "Grimm" razor release would be well advised for some reviews from members probably
beginning mid-August. I think the reviews will be of real interest to our members.
I purchased a 10 piece beginner set for $65. First off, there are only 8 pieces. They count the pamphlet on how to use razor as a piece and a lifetime service as one too. Also, items are just wrapped in paper, vs a BOX as stated in the headline. Not happy. Also no returns what so ever. Then when you want to review them on their page, it says only for people who purchased them. I did and still could not review.
I'm not a fan of this company either, but as far as I understand, vendor bashing is not allowed no matter how richly it is deserved.
Sorry about the bashing. I'm new here. Will keep that in mind. Thanks.
Some Venders need to be beat severely about the head and shoulders with a stick, if only for their stupidity or for being to lazy to do ANY research at all on their items..
We have a list of banned razors. I suggest if you find a site selling any of these, go elsewhere. Anyone respected here will not sell those for ANY reason. It's okay to bash if you don't name names ...( I hope ) :<0)
Although it is against the rules to bash any vendors, anyone with information should private message with experience.
I was dumb & bought their "Vintage Beginner Straight Razor". Shave ready & lifetime honing promised on a razor that was "restored vintage blades manufactured in Germany, US & UK. They range from a wide variety of Solingen and other manufacturers. From Dubl Duck, Dovo, Boker, J.A. Henckels and countless others."
For $69 I should have known it was too good to be true. I got a razor with no markings at all that was way too dull to shave with. I found an old razor in a drawer from Pakistan, & it was identical. The new one was bigger, but other than that it was a perfect double. I sent them an email & got a rude answer saying it was tested multiple times to be shave ready.
Now that ive got well over a year experience and knowledge I stay well away from that website and all affiliated websites selling the same mediocre items to beginners..
To be fair I bought the starter kit from them too so I wouldn't be here today without them.. the strop and Soap were decent.
Maybe the razor was dulled from all the testing.
They probably tested them on fake dead servicemen.
Nice touch, though: GDDDs galore. None of them available, of course. Reminds me of a Spanish or Portuguese shop that had a dozen or so GDFilli razors on their website, only those had been "sold" ages ago, too. But it's nice search engine fodder for the fanboys.
Speaking of which, and purely out of morbid curiosity, what are "Star Customs"? They look like GDGDs to the uninitiated, but you never know. Maybe the used a cheese grater and some Duck scales for a sparkly sparkle effect...
Oh, and do they sell "Gay American", too, or just "Straight American"?
As the old walrus keeps saying, "it's a mad world out there." Yowza and all that, gentlemen.
Closing this one for mod review.
