Beat Up on Shipping

Here we go again. I buy and sell on Ebay. I charge a $5 flat rate because I send the packages USPS Priory Mail. Most times the shipping is $4.05. I buy bubble Wrap and other packaging materials with the 95 cents left over.

I'm not going to mentions nomes because I'm just spouting off but when I pay $8 bucks for shipping and receive the razor with a 61 cents postal stamp that pisses me off. Why do you have to lie?

Put a handling charge in the listing. I think everyone knows we live in America and nothing is for nothing. Sure, I did not have to buy it but I thought they were shipping it UPS or FEDX or something.

There is an old saying " In America it's OK to be Greedy, It's When you become a pig, you get in trouble.

Yeah - its the same over here too. Most people play the game fairly, but every now and then you get someone doing this and it just irks me. The UK is the worse for it though - by a long way. I remember once getting a package that was wrapped in an old cat litter box, with brown tape around it a couple of times. The thing was rattling around inside it, and had about £2 postage on it - and the P&P was £10. Grr.

You have to figure in the S/H charge into the total cost when you are pondering whether to bid on an item. I passed on a couple of razors I wanted because the seller had what I considered excessive S/H. I understand that it is a way to increase profits while avoiding additional Ebay charges, but SHEESH!

Even when shipping internationally, it costs under $5 for me to ship via airmail and that includes the cost of the padded envelope. That's why I just include shipping in all of my prices. When domestic costs me about $1.50, US about $3 and international about $4.50, there's no reason to be a stickler for a couple of bucks.

It's really funny when you see an item that's Buy now: for $3.99 with a fixed shipping rate of $15.00 (or something like this) --- I mark that seller and refuse to buy from him again --- doesn't leave ya with the fuzzy warmies.

In Belgium it depends on the weight.

The padded envelope costs 1 euro. Shipping between 100 and 350 grams costs 4.8 euros. Shipping 350 - 500 grams costs 8.8 euros.

I usually round to the upmost euro to pay for the bubble wrap stuff, though I have no idea if that is enough or too much. It's just 20 cents anyway.

As a result, shipping cost is usually 6 euros. I always ship at cost, though I made a 1 euro mistake the first 2 times I shipped razors (7 euro instead of 6 euro)

Let me be the devil's advocate (I love that job)!

Suppose you see a razor that you are willing to pay 40 dollars for and seller charges 10 dollars for shipping though you suspect real shipping costs are only 4 dollars then just deduct the remaining 6 dollars off the 40 dollars! That leaves 34 dollars to be spent bidding. That's how I do it.

Some sellers use higher shipping charges to avoid paying more to ebay. Why would that bother you when you buy?

Hi,
I'm glad to say that there are also some very honest ebay sellers out there. I can remember one of my very first razors which I bought on ebay, it was a Torrey bought from Altima55.

His postage costs certainly seemed very reasonable compared to some of the other sellers out there. His parcel duly arrived in a timely fashion and upon opening the package a small note was enclosed. When I opened the note, 2 crisp $1 bills were enclosed along with a very humble apology about over charging me for postage.

Gee you couldn't ask for more could you, no wonder his stuff is so highly sought after.

Hear ya,

I got ripped the other day on a $9.00 shipping charge and it cost the seller under $2.00. He said the difference was for gas to get to the post office........hahahahahaha.

At least the 8/8 Tennis Razor was Awesome..........
