Rochester razor?

Anyone see this razor?
Vintage Straight Razor
I'm not bidding on it though I would love to. Several generations of my family were born and lived in Rochester and I remember my grandmother telling me that it used to be the "flour city" but was now the "flower city". I saw another razor with a handle almost exactly like this but it had a different name on the handle starting with F. I think it may have had a Boker tang stamp. Were these commemorative razors? Or were they for advertising? Does anyone know anything about them?

Found the other razor. I was right about the Boker. The name on The handle is Faultless. Etching on the blade for the columbian exposition in Chicago in 1893 I think.

You are most welcome. That is a nice razor there. Several makers and suppliers had them, including Boker. The 'Bicycle Race' comes to mind. Hessenbruch had neat ones as well. Love those! Some consider them gaudy or don't like aluminum. I do!

Yes, I like them too. Reminds me of Baroque and Rococo. I saw a pocket knife with scales like that as well. Are they called scales on a pocket knife? Do you know if one company made the scales for these razor makers or did they make their own?

Good question. Yes, on a knife, scales as well. "Handles" is used too. In razors, scales is the norm. Perhaps one maker made them all? They are cast, and the dies, molds, setup would have been unique back then.
I wonder this about many old scales.
