1 Leather sharpening metal / Straight Razors / french straight razor
Google translate says "Leather sharpening metal"
LOL, I see it now and having converted 27.5 cm into inches I understand the scale of it. When I first looked at it I saw it as being about 4 inches long. Looking at the third picture, there is little difference in color or texture between the metal handle and the leather. I thought it was all metal.:confused:
Cuir d'affilage en metal = Metallic Strop.
Looks like a paddle strop to me too.
Cuir = leather
d'affilage = for sharpening
en metal = in metal (e.g., made of metal material)
Don't feel bad hart. I thought it was a French shoe horn. :rofl2:
Hart, they made 'em in glass too !!

It is a leather strop in a rusty metal frame. A loom type strop but adjusting the tension of the leather may not be very easy.
Those are uranium glass. I think slightly nuclear! ;)
There are lots of interesting old school stroppers made of steel, glass and more. This is pretty cool looking. I've never used it.Attachment 168062Attachment 168063
Cool! Not much of a use for them with modern blades. Still, a neat collectible. think the OP's device was to suspend the leather for stropping. Interesting stuff!
Im happy to speak Spanglish to the cooks.
