Yeah, I mentioned these "pickers" a few days back & they watch this bs on tv so they think they are going to get rich quick by doing the same thing. I really amazes me what people will do these days.
Pawn Stars & all those other picker/pawn shows..................those people are filthy rich now, especially the ones on Pawn Stars. I hate 'em for swing it all up & now these people are on eBay like they are there to help you out & give you such a great treasure!!! I've seen a few usernames for example, I'll make one up but there might actually be one out there like "pickersparadise" or something similar. They will have items at such absurd prices thinking it's the California Gold Rush or some crap like that. Well, they will soon see that some of these things like rusty straight razors aren't going to bring 'em what they think it will bring! I asked one a question the other day but I never got a reply. They need to get a REAL job & not try to rip people off out of their hard earned money. They're actually picking their noses among other things!

The difference between the people on the shows and the average eBay person is that the people on the shows can tell the difference between something valuable and beat and something that's junk and beat. Notice how most of the stuff on the various picker shows goes unremarked...they're picking a gem here and there out of a pile of crap, and that takes knowledge. The people on eBay trying to imitate them are going to get nowhere, because they haven't bothered to educate themselves about what makes, in our case, a straight razor valuable as a collector item or junk. Don't get bent out of shape at their asking prices...the things won't sell, at least in sufficient quantities to make it worth their while. They'll keep amassing piles of junk in the hopes of flipping something, and every now and then they'll find a gem, which will keep them going. But overall, they'll lose money and drop out.

There are some that have a lot of good stuff because they did their homework but others are out there being fooled by what they see on TV & buying up junk & trying to pass it off as antiques! Even pawn shops have become rip offs. There are still some that will give you a good deal but many years ago I used to go to pawn shops a lot & buy good things for cheap because they would add a little to what they have in the item to make a profit but these days most pawn shops are asking retail prices & sometimes more. They will go on eBay & try to get an idea of what something will sell for & will use it as a reference site. Some pawn shops sell on eBay & I have gotten good deals on some things but others try to rip ya off.

A bargain these days is hard to find. I like going to some the antique malls around. Most are willing to take an offer on items. If I like the prices they have already, I don't say anything. Usually they will cut me a deal anyways. And the ones who don't budge, I tell em at the prices they have it set at, it will sit on the shelf another 5 years.....lol

I guess the ones who inflate their prices or just put a high price tag on items they have no idea what the value....are looking for that "sucker born every minute" kind of person. They wait and wait....but one day it sells!
I don't care for those types at all either. eBay is a terrible place to try and research a value on something....unless there are a lot of that item(s) there.

Whatever happened of the days of 99 cent starting bids? You see fewer and fewer of those. If I was selling items on eBay, I'd tread it like a yard sale.... Just to move it and get rid of it. But to some this is to make some extra cash.

What gets me is when someone is selling an item on eBay and it's a wonderful price...... BUT..... the shipping is way out in left field.... Almost triple what shipping should be. That ticks me off more times than anything else.

I'm in the same boat.... I got a ton of stuff of all kinds. Accumulates very fast! But I love my stuff too!
