You want to see an everyday deal as good as those TIs....maybe even better?
6/8" : 6-0031
$114 delivered. Nothing on sale, no shortages, fully stocked. If you missed out on the TI sale, this is hardly a consolation prize.

So true. I will see you that deal and show you one that I think all will like.

Watch the classified. I have reason to believe there may be a T-I 6/8 (half hollow C 135) showing up there in the very foreseeable future.
I keep Revisor open in my browser; however, still want to try C135.
Thanks.
I have a Revisor very similar to yours (black scales). But the reason I posted the other is because its more of a apples to apples comparison (standard full hollow, basic scales, gold wash on the blade). I'd say yours was a great deal as well, but a little more money than the TI offering. If that $100 benchmark is appealing to anyone, the Revisor option is a slam dunk. I currently have two (used one yesterday) and I think they are top notch. They hone up really nice with minimal effort. And hey, those TIs are gone. These are in stock and the quality is arguably even better. Something to think about if you missed the TIs.
I just shaved with the TI for the first time after having it honed by my friend MODINE. Wow! It was a smooth and seemingly effortless shave. This razor is meeting expectations now. I hope everyone is enjoying Thiers.:)
I also had to send my off for honing as the factory edge was really pretty bad. It will arrive back here tomorrow, actually today as it as after midnight. Very excited to give it a test run.
I'll probably use it for all of my shaves this week to get used acquaint myself to the razor. Really looking forward to it.
Received my razor back from FranfC today. He had posted that this was the hardest razor he had ever honed. Had some bad steel that had to be worked through and I can't tell you how many hours (days) he had to put into it to get it just right.
Just right it is. Shaved with it today and pretty much all bbs. It shaved great. Will shave with it for at least a few days but I am thrilled with how it turned out. Quite disappointed with it as it came.
I have great respect for someone that can do magic to a blade. I'm okay with a refresh but will continue practicing on my "practice razor" for some time before I will try something on a blade that really matters. It certainly is not a skill that is developed overnight. As I type this, I'm taking a break from trying to set the bevel (once again) on that practice razor.
Thanks so much FranfC.
Keep an eye out on eBay for anything that isn't expensive but you believe might very well be able to be honed and take an edge. That means avoid heavy rust and corrosion. When I was starting out on honing, I picked up some really rough stuff. LOL. But you might even find one in the classified for $25 or $30. Get it, kill the edge, and rehone it. If its at all decent, you can turn around and sell it again yourself. The idea is to get some experience before you take on anything too challenging. Smiling blades, wedges, lots of hone wear, and really hard steel should be avoided at first. I used to have about ten of them suitable for practice. I sold them to someone who wanted them for the same purpose for a fraction of what I paid for them.
Ordered mine last April right when they went out of stock. I completely forgot about them and I got a package in the mail today. Only took eleven months. It's like I received a gift from my former self. Attachment 230463
Same story here, though mine is still in transit. I called the vendor every three or four months over the last year, and talked to some of the most unaware customer service people I'd ever encountered, so I'd pretty much given up hope on receiving the thing.
But now I'm pretty excited. Christmas in March!
So this morning the UPS guy delivered a box allegedly containing the half-price T-I razor with faux tortoise scales that I'd ordered 11 months ago. This is what was inside:

Notice anything interesting? :)
Maybe it's an upgrade because you had to wait, Montanan.
Looks like you got the best deal, albeit the wait. Here it is from Lehman's site for $229.

Yeah, it's a minor situational ethics thing. Even with their lousy service I don't want to take advantage of them ... but at the same time, I wouldn't really save them money by returning the thing, both because of the added customer service costs and because I imagine they couldn't put an open-box razor straight back into the warehouse.
And it really IS gorgeous. :)
You could call them and let them decide if they want it back, let you keep it, or pay some extra for the different scales.
Decided I'd feel better about things if I called them ... and they just told me I could keep the razor received, with their compliments.
Now I'm off for a guilt-free shave!
Good call on making the call and that is the answer I expected them to give you.
Just did a quick shave. The edge it came with is perfectly acceptable, and I like the weight of the scales. Longest backorder ever, but I'm very pleased.
i'll trade you for one with faux tortoise scales like you ordered!:) congratulations on a beautiful razor!
Nice score. I love TIs but I hate their pins. I have several of them and I am in the process of fixing them to my liking.
So I ordered one of these and it was back ordered. I paid with a credit card and figured everything was was settled. It arrived back in March and I was happy. Last week I received a bill from Lehmans charging me for the price of the razor PLUS INTEREST! Now, I specifically remember making the payment and seeing it on my weekly transaction check. I'm not even sure if I can pull up my bank statement from 2015(when I paid for it!). No phone calls or emails. Just a bill charging 18% apr. and threatening to send me to "collections". So obviously I'll be giving these jokers a call some time this week. Has anybody else who's razor was back ordered had any issues like this? I personally will not be giving this company any more business.
That's not right! You should be able to go to your bank statement online, even if it was last year. I've had to do it before. Not only that but they sent you the razor & they are saying you didn't pay? I made a payment once & I thought everything was okay until I got a bill for it. I sent them proof showing I paid with a credit card at the time. I'm so glad I saved the payment to a file. I hope you find the payment & get it straightened out.
It's got to be a mistake on their part. I've done business with them before (and visited the store) and they have always been more than helpful. I was even able to work out a better deal on the shipping for the razor with no problem. Hope you get it straightened out.
Obviously a mistake, my dealings with them have always been good and they have been very helpful and reasonable. I think a phone call will easily straighten this out. I would not have been happy, when I opened that bill but bet they will help to get this straightened out.
