When you talk about detail, these old books are like walking up to an old timer [barber] and being able to pick his brain for a couple of days. The shave technique, or the books pick on the best strops, how to hone (although I've had excellent success with a combo Bill Ellis's way of doing it (two hand) and how they describe in the Standardized Textbook of Barbering (advanced honing section, putting a slight bow on the blade)).
