OK, I'm a newb with a serious case of RAD. I've picked up a handfull of razors on eBay and for the most part I'm happy with them. Some I know I overpaid for and others were more reasonable. Any who I don't think I picked up any real dogs yet.

I just finished viewing Bill Ellis's CD on razor restoration and went through the final chapter on buying on eBay. My goodness gracious and land'o goshen, what an eye opener. Using my newfound expertise I scanned the current offerings using a new set of eyes and BY THE STARS I saw exactly what he was talking about.

Blades cut off, i.e, way too short for the scales; pins of different materials, corrosion and nicks never mentioned on "Excellent Condition for their age" extremely uneven honing, etc.

I anticipate I will still get burned from time to time but I'm nowhere near as gullible as I was even a week ago thanks to his CD.

By the by, I'm using the Standard Giuide to Razors, 2nd Edition by Richtie and Stewart to get some idea of what the razors are worth. Is this good, bad, indifferent?? Is there a better reference?
