Ebay Seller Restorations

I have seen a lot of items in antique stroes where the seller has done some pretty nasty things to an item to make it look pretty to the untrained eye. I keep expecting to find a Texas Patterson that some idiot has attacked with a bead blaster and Tarnex.

Looking at Ebay item 140164761498 leads me to suggest that one of our experts volumteer to post a guide on Ebay for sellers of STR8s. Besides asking that the sellers leave the razors in "as found" condition; maybe the author could add a few points on close-up photography.

There are a few Eboy sellers who are knowledgeable about razors and try and do it right but most are just people who pick something up an at antique shop or estate sale and sell a bunch of stuff. These folks know nothing about straights and couldn't care less. To them if an item looks nicer it will sell better so often they will try and improve on the item's appearance be it good or bad. Those that are good at taking pics just do it right and those that use a flatbed scanner or worse probably are too dumb to realize why their stuff doesn't sell.
