Okay, thanks for the tip. My only other razor is a dovo, are those celluloid? And since I need to send the jaguar to get honed (if I win : ) ) should I get it rescaled to? would that solve the possible problem?

It is possible that the scales are decaying and releasing gasses that cause the blade to corrode. If that is the case, the you should look into having it rescaled in order to prevent future damage. If you don't want to spend the money without knowing for sure, you could just keep an eye on it for a while to see what happens. Somehow, the decay problem seems to be contageous to other celluloid scales, but I'd stay on the safe side and keep it away from all other razors.
i got outbid, so go for it...I decided my budget isnt really up to the rate at which I want to purchase things these days..
This is a great buy at under $20 with 6 hrs to go... Even if cell rot was an issue, which has been suggested, but don't think so? Fine for anyone with the quick ability to knock up some scales (going for it Alex?). Those celluloid scales of the Le jaguar seem to warp very easily - two that I got both were warped and needed some gentle repositioning with a hot bath! Again not a big job.

Who got it?
$31 I think. Jaguar is/was made by LeGrelot, so I imagine it is a very nice shaver! I have a 1931 LeGrelot and it is takes the sharpest edge!
