Thread: Just picked up this new dovo for sixty bucks :)

It'll be my first dovo so I'm looking forward to honing it up and giving it a try. Not bad for $60 huh?

It's a great razor by my standards. It's exactly like my first staight. Holds a great edge, is very forgiving and is just a pleasure for me to hold it. It's also a razor that you won't really regret to take as a travel razor... I shaved with mine this morning! But I know nothing about honing it... the only thing I know is that Joke1176 - the guy who honed it for me a little while ago - had a bit of trouble getting it to his own standards of sharpness... maybe it was my newbie abuse? Good razor! I'm sure you'll like it!

I'm not really all that up on Dovo's, but is that the same as this one (scale color aside) VintageBladesLLC::Dovo... ?

I got one that looks just like that from the knife center on the net. It honed up well for me. I will say that it needs a little oil every once and a while at the pivot pin to keep it from rusting.

Yup. I think that's pretty much the same razor, although the one in the auction was a 5/8 as opposed to a 6/8. It's nothing fancy, but if I like it I'll probably end up putting some half decent scales on it.
Thanks for the tip Cliff, I'll keep that in mind.
