I can't provide you with a paper copy (not even a xeroxed one - bright light damages old paper) but I took photo's of all 46 pages of the eleventh edition of 1830 (a reprint of the second edition of 1799). Quality could be better, but I it's readable.
Here you can find full pics (warning: zip-file of 96 MB)
And here are cropped and resized pics (zip-file of 15 MB)

Thanks very much! I'm always looking through material on razors just for something to read! How cool is this!
Thank you Oldengaerde for being so generous and sharing this booklet with us. I hope everyone realizes the value of this rare edition and the price they would have to pay if they were to purchase it.
Regards - Walt
A huge thank you from me, too. In addition to the author's expertise and command of the English language, he has a dry sense of humor which I like as well.
Thank you Oldengaerde
Thank you for this!
Could someone please make this a Sticky, or more likely, put a copy of it into the help files or please just do something to ensure that this one does not get lost in the deep recesses of old threads?
Hear, hear or is that here, here? Whatever, any Mods about to take this under their wings?
The proper place for it is in the wiki, no mod help necessary for this.
May be a good idea to check with dwessell since it's fairly large, or perhaps even shrinking it further if possible through better compression.
And all the rest of the help files/documents that are not yet there should go to the wiki as well.
Everything that is going to be moved was moved awhile back now. And yes you are right the above files are both currently beyond the file size limitations of the wiki. Maybe they could be compressed - the file uploader at the wiki claims an allowance of 40 MB but in practice it seems to be somewhere between 5 and 10 MB without dwessell's help
Sorry, yes, I did realize this isn't the right place and tried to add it to under 'historical' in the wiki bibliography section, but couldn't because of file type, or size, or both.
I could try to make a link in the wiki to where it is now on my own server. Alternatively, the pics could be concatenated into one pdf file. One reason I didn't do this yet (apart from time constraints) is that the quality is rather poor. If someone could help improving contrast etcetera, this would allow for further size reduction without sacrificing readability. I'll contact dwessell.
Anyway, I'm happy people seem to like the read. :)
awesome!
I want to find Savingy's pamphlet now though!
what do you think after reading this.
I am still making my way through
page 10 the best shape is a straight edge.
hmmph- the smilers are so much more aesthetically pleasing
Thanks Oldengaerde! Downloading it now.
