It's always hard to tell from photos, but it certainly looks promising. I'll be curious to see what you think.

I looked at that one with some degree of excitement. In the end I simply forgot to go back and bid it! Love those types of blades - they just seem to slide through my beard like a hot knife through butter. Hope it turns out to be a great shaver for you!

In the eBay it was named as Jandvik. A brand i've never heard of.
However if it is Sandvik, then it is Finnish. Probaly made of Swedish steel. Quite common in local auctions here.

This is interesting. To my knowledge, Sandvik started in 1868 when it was founded by Anders Göransson as Sandvikens Jernwerks Aktiebolag, more or less a restart of his father's Högbo Stål och Jernwerks Aktiebolag, in Sandviken, Sweden. Father Göran Göransson is said to have been the first ever to produce steel using Henry Bessemer's method on an industrial scale on the 18th of July 1858.

Did they produce razors abroad too? Or was there another Sandvik company in Finland?

For those interested, here's a picture of Göransson sr's 80th birthday in 1899. I believe Göransson jr. is the centre gentleman in the left half of the picture. It seems they could have used some good razors... On an even lighter note: here's a picture of the family in 1921 where even one of the ladies definitely could have used a good razor.

As for your razor, Wheelz, the one I have is very battered, but still shaves above par.

Sandvik is Swedish brand with some of it's factories here in Finland too. To my knowledge it is nowadays focused in engineering, mining and construction services, but not so far ago they still produced tools, kitchen harware etc including razors. To be honest i have no exact information if they have ever produced razors in Finland. However i still have few chisels, plane blades and scissors with 'Sandvik Finland' stamped on them.
