Thanked: 20No, it's a typical ploy of some eBay sellers. Next time, check the shipping costs before you place a bid, and consider this an educational experience.

Thanked: 94I did check, it said free! until I won...then it said 14.95 large flat rate expidited usps box.
why the hell does a 3in razor require a LARGE flat rate box!!!! the small box is $5 and more than big enough for the razor!!

Thanked: 20Maybe it said "Free with Buy It Now"? Have you asked the seller about the change from free shipping?

Thanked: 94I asked him about the $14.95 price tag and questioned about it stating that it should not cost that much to ship to AZ as I have shipped all over the world for half that price. He said "I'm sure it is."
....me no happy right now.....

It is nuts, but at least you know going in so you can calculate the total cost and bid accordingly.
Sellers didn't used to pay a fee on the shipping, so it was a trick for them to make a little more. Last I heard, sellers were paying a bigger fee on the shipping than the sales price, but I don't keep up with things like that.

Thanked: 20I can't say I blame you. Did you find out why the shipping changed from "Free"?

Thanked: 94I would agree with that if I had purchased a $600 one off custom or a 9/8 WB for barbers use etc (you get the idea), but we are talking about a DE that was produced by the millions and is not in the least uncommon! Now if it were in unopened condition, or near mint again I would agree, but for a $14 razor, paying 14 dollars to ship in the same country is silly. JMHO so take from it what you will.

I agree. But in that case, she should have had you confirm that you are willing to accept shipping liability.

For shipping within US with first class they can buy insurance and delivery confirmation and still be at around the $5 mark.
In any case the seller has to figure out this part at the time they create the listing, not after it ends. Any increase in the shipping after the auction has ended is a violation of the ebay rules, and if it were me I'd file a complaint, and leave negative feedback.
