And yet I've mailed and received a bunch of razors with never a problem.
I am telling you the prices of straight razor are dropping on the Bay. I have not figured out if that is a good thing or bad???
My understanding is that if the razor does not arrive the eBay and PayPal protections make sure that you get your money back. They do this by getting the money back from the seller, so the insurance on the package is really to protect the seller in case if loss.
That is a different kind of insurance, for bad transactions, wrong descriptions, etc.
If you are offered (and refuse) shipping insurance, and the item gets lost, you get nothing.
although paypal may refund you from the sellers money because they could not care less about the seller, regardless of right or wrong. In that case it means that paypal unilaterally took the money back from the seller, even though it is not his fault that the item gets lost after you refused insurance. That is not really a nice thing to do.
If nothing is agreed up front, it is usually the seller who is responsible. If you are offered a less expensive shipping method with the explicit agreement that you refused shipping insurance, then it is you who gets the short end of the stick.
For small amounts I don't bother, but everything I sell which goes for 100$ is insured or there is no sale.
I see, next time its brought up I will ask the seller to share my the cost considering it is in both of our best interests. A couple dollars extra wont hurt either of us.
My first instinct when he proposed insurance was fraud... I thought I was going to get taken for a ride, only because I have purchased many higher value items from ebay and never had a real issue with anything, nor have I heard of using insurance for an ebay purchase.
For a purchase outside ebay however, I would absolutely demand insurance buying or selling.
Thanks,
Eric.
GOOD THING
It's about dang time they start coming down again! I refuse to give those silly prices on razors. Think about it...it's just a razor not a gold coin.
I predict that if a particular president is re-elected a lot of stuff will become available at fair prices or better due to everyone trying to hang onto what $$$ they have.
