If I could get a bevel set on it sure why the heck not
someone put the wrong handle on a very old cleaver
dam if i get it for a few bucks i get it to shave.

That actually looks pretty cool. Sort of like something they would shave with in Lord of the Rings.
Doesn't look all that old to me.
I imagine that is relatively recently made item for use as a "patch knife" by the "primitive" ( period correct ) muzzle loading crowd.
A patch knife is/was used to trim the cloth patch after the ball was started into the barrel.

The handle is too close to the blade, no room for your fingers. I would drop it for sure.
Yea, it looks like it has no hollow.. More like a knife.. i don't think you could get the razor edge on it.
Id keep it in my tool pouch at work and cut shingles with it. Its pretty much the same price as a olfa knife. I dont think id put that to my face.
I think it looks kind of interesting. It's not clear to me whether holding it would be awkward or not. Still .......

I am no expert, but it does not look very old to me either.
If I could overcome the challenges of putting a suitable edge on it, I would at least try to shave with it once...but I have my doubts about how pleasant it would be balance wise. I would not know until I try though;)
