Cool First Shave! Somewhat of a success!

I got my first razor as a birthday present and I got courageous and gave it a whirl. (After a few days of googleing and lurking on fourms). I definitely need some tips on generating lather, ive got a bar(puck?) of UHD shave soap.

Anywho, only nicked myself once or twice but here's the first with the grain shave. I skipped some spots on my neck cause im not exactly sure how to get at them.(im also a little afraid of cutting my head off)

Welcome. What helped me the most is using the lightest pressure necessary to barely skim "over" the skin and using the lowest angle which will still give you the feedback of cutting hairs. Pressure will cause severe razor burn.

That was a great first effort! My first straight razor shave was a disaster. Looks like this is for you!

    Well done, sounds like success!

As far as lather goes, I've learnt that you need to load the brush with twice as much as you need to, that too much water is as bad as too little, but that gluggy lather leads to the razor digging in...
