Found a GB Straight Razor w/anchor mark George Brittain? Help please.
Hello all. Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I am doing some research before I sell this razor and hope you guys can help me. I work at a antique shop in my town here of Gainesville, TX. A lady walked in one day and had this razor as well as some other items for sale and I bought the items from her. This razor was in the mix. It is marked GB with a anchor and you can just barely see the iron cross. It's in awesome condition. I have taken some pics in hopes I might gain some more info on it, or possibly a year of manufacture. I am assuming early 1800s. Also, it has been kept in a box and after examining the box, it doesn't go with the razor. It actually has Joseph Elliott on it, but its very hard to make out. Can anyone help me out here as to how old mine is, what the handle might be made of, does it look like it has been redone? It measures 6 3/4 inches when closed. The blade width is about 7/8 inches wide. Also on the handle, there is what looks like an inital or number scratched in it? This is not my usual field of antiques, so I am out of my element with this. Thanks. PamAttachment 139042Attachment 139043Attachment 139052Attachment 139053Attachment 139055Attachment 139056
