Lately I've been struggling with the SR. Yesterday 10Pups was kind enough to give me a honing lesson on an inexpensive Boker I bought for some restoration work. We decided to remove a small chip in the toe and sharpen the edge to see what we had on our hands. My techinque wasn't horrible but he gave me some great pointers. Basically went through the grits finishing on a Naniwa 12K, what an awesome finisher. While I was painfully slow the edge came out pretty good for a first timer.

We both thought it would shave okay. It's a 4/8 round point with some nice patena. With two days growth on my face this morning was the moment of truth. Pretty dang nice little razor the edge felt really good, smooth & sharp. Not a perfect shave but miles better than what I've been getting lately.

I think the little blade made me focus more on angles and stretching my skin. Huge success and I had a nice smile despite nicking two little spots that just haven't had time to heal. I didn't mind.

Just wanted to say thanks to 10Pups for sharing his education. Also met Wolfpack34 both forum membes are great. He'll be happy to know I bought my first Sheffield today, lol. What did I just get into?????
