Straight razor shaving can be a great hobby.
Buy an Alum Block to give you some finger grip

I'm also a beginner to straight razor shaving. My arsenal is: Dovo Best Quality 6/8" and Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving cream.

I went for the 6/8" blade because there is more mass/inertia so it's more steady in my hand and TOBS because it was one of the most popular creams on Amazon and it has a great price!

The smaller the blade the easier the shave but i think most ppl including me prefer bigger blades.
