Photos would be helpful. We all like razor porn. And what a great family connection.

Sollingen was and remains to this day one of the primary locations for quality straight razor production. Do you have any pictures showing any of the markings?

Thanked: 481Hi Dave, and Welcome!
Just a heads up that the yellow handled razors, both the Bismark, and the Tower brand, look like they may be showing signs of what we call "Cell Rot" this is something that happens when the handle material (celluloid) begins to break down and create an acidic gas. You have a great collection there, and it would be a shame if they were allowed to turn into a pile of rust dust!
Should you decide you want to give the world of straight shaving a go, I would be happy to clean up and hone a blade for you. Give some serious thought to keeping at least a few of them, as family heirlooms. One day they could wind up in the hands of YOUR grandson!
Should you need more info or advice, you have certainly come to the right place.

Hi, welcome to SRP! Wow, what a great collection. I think my most prized collection is the razor handed down to me by my Mother In-Law used by my wife's great-great Uncle. It was restored by an SRP member and is something I want to pass down to my son one day. Definitely worth the time and money!
