Check out the inside of the scales on the first photo I posted. See he moisture in places ? I assume that is from the gassing. You may not have cell rot going on, or maybe you do ..... inspect the razors you've got, look inside the scales for any of that same look in my photo # 1. If you don't see that, it may be just corrosion from poor maintenance and storage. That happens too. If you have any you suspect keep them separate from the rest of the herd until you are sure. AFAIK, there is no cure but to rescale.
No amount of washing can stop cell rot, its a "rotting" of the celluloid material that releases an acidic gas that will eat away nearby metal, as well as rot other celluloid near it, especially in enclosed boxes.
personally I never cared for the celluloid scales and simply replaced them with scales made of a nice type of wood. I did this even before I ever heard of cell rot
Being the stressed person I am already, this "cellrot" thing got me panicked...
How do I know if my scales are plastic or celluloid? If there isn't much corrosion on the blade when I got it, is it safe to assume that the evil handle isn't murdering my blade?
Is there any way to prevent mother nature from ruining my beloved razors.....?
Nice job!
keep preserving those beauties
